On the Ground

Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo is the bucket-list round but Dye Fore is where the trip turns into a memory. The Chavon River holes have to be seen. We sequence Teeth of the Dog day one when the group is fresh, then build in Dye Fore and Punta Espada for the back half.

Teeth of the Dog (Casa de Campo)

Pete Dye (1971) · Caribbean cliff/coastal · 7,471 yds, par 72

Routinely ranked the #1 course in the Caribbean and top 50 in the world. Seven holes play directly along the Caribbean - Pete Dye's calling card and one of his most beloved designs.

Dye Fore (Casa de Campo)

Pete Dye (2003) · 27-hole cliffside parkland · 7,770 yds (full), par 72

Dramatic cliffs above the Chavón River and the Caribbean. Three nines (Lakes, Marina, Chavón) - the Chavón nine is the most spectacular, with 300-foot cliff drops.

The Links (Casa de Campo)

Pete Dye (1976) · Inland links-style · 6,461 yds, par 71

Casa de Campo's third Dye design and the resort's hidden gem - short, walkable, and the perfect 'cash games' round between the two big tracks.

Punta Espada (Cap Cana)

Jack Nicklaus (2006) · Caribbean cliff · 7,396 yds, par 72

Multi-year host of the PGA Tour Champions' Cap Cana Championship. Eight holes along the Caribbean cliffs. Routinely top-3 in Caribbean rankings alongside Teeth of the Dog.

Corales Golf Club (Punta Cana)

Tom Fazio (2010) · Caribbean coastal · 7,670 yds, par 72

Annual host of the PGA Tour Corales Puntacana Championship. Six holes along the Caribbean and a closing 'Devil's Elbow' three-hole stretch over inlets.

La Cana (Punta Cana)

P.B. Dye (2001) · Caribbean resort · 6,950 yds, par 72

27 holes total (Tortuga, Hacienda, Arrecife). Friendlier than Corales / Punta Espada - the Day-1 warm-up at Punta Cana basecamp.

We split the trip. Casa de Campo is a 7,000-acre resort village with golf-cart access to all three Pete Dye courses, a private marina, and Caribbean beaches - the iconic DR golf basecamp. Punta Cana basecamps include Eden Roc Cap Cana (Relais & Châteaux luxury near Punta Espada) and Tortuga Bay at Punta Cana Resort (Oscar de la Renta-designed villas near Corales / La Cana).

When to go

November-April is the prime window - 78-85°F, low humidity, low rain. December-March is peak (and most expensive). May-October is the wet season with afternoon thunderstorms and high humidity. Hurricane season is June-November but the southern coast (Casa de Campo, La Romana) sees fewer named-storm hits than Punta Cana.

Getting there & transfers

PUJ (Punta Cana International) is the major gateway - direct flights from most US East Coast and Midwest cities. LRM (La Romana International) has direct flights from JFK and MIA and lands you 15 minutes from Casa de Campo. Pinseekers arranges van transfers and an in-country driver for the duration; the LRM ↔ PUJ road link is 90 minutes.

  • Casa de Campo's villa rentals (4-7 BR with private pool, golf cart, butler) can be the best per-player value for groups of 8-16 - often cheaper than 8 hotel rooms with more space and privacy.
  • Cap Cana and Punta Cana resort dining is expensive; off-property restaurants (La Palapa by Eden Roc, Bachata Rosa) offer better value for casual lunches.
  • Hurricane-season cancellations: book through credit cards with travel insurance baked in (Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum) for free name-storm coverage.

Common questions about Dominican Republic golf trips

How much does a Dominican Republic golf trip cost per person?

Pinseekers Travel Dominican Republic trips run $4,200 - $9,500 per player. Final pricing depends on group size, season, lodging tier, the caddie program, and whether you add premium rounds or off-property activities. We publish standard, premium, and black-card tiers on this page; email events@pinseekerstravel.com with your dates and roster size and we'll come back with a custom quote within one business day.

What is the best time of year for a Dominican Republic golf trip?

The prime window for Dominican Republic is November - April (December-March peak). Conditioning, weather, and tee-time access all peak in that range. Shoulder months can drop pricing 20-30% with most days still playable. We don't book outside the prime window unless the group prefers off-season value over guaranteed weather - the "When to go" section above breaks down each month in detail.

How many days should a Dominican Republic golf trip be?

Most Dominican Republic groups travel for 5-7 nights / 4-6 rounds. Shorter than that and the marquee rounds feel rushed; longer and fatigue cuts into scoring on the closing days. We size every trip to the group's travel windows, handicaps, and how many courses they want to play - the sample itinerary on this page is one representative routing, not the only shape the trip can take.

What are the must-play courses at Dominican Republic?

The marquee rounds we sequence on a Dominican Republic trip are Teeth of the Dog (Casa de Campo), Dye Fore (Casa de Campo), The Links (Casa de Campo), Punta Espada (Cap Cana). Each is profiled in "The courses we play" section above with designer, course type, and the strategic reason it earns a tee time on the schedule. Additional add-on rounds and replay options are available for groups that want to extend the trip or get a second crack at a favorite layout.

What's the closest airport to Dominican Republic?

Most groups fly into PUJ (Punta Cana, gateway) or LRM (La Romana, on-property at Casa de Campo). Pinseekers arranges group transfers from the airport to the basecamp and between courses for groups of four or more, with larger groups split across multiple vans. Private aviation arrivals are coordinated separately when the group has access. The "Getting there & transfers" section above lists the alternates worth considering.

Can I ship my golf clubs to Dominican Republic?

Yes. Pinseekers handles club shipping on every trip via Ship Sticks or Luggage Forward, with door-to-door pickup from your home or club and delivery to the resort bag room before arrival. Most groups ship one direction and fly back with their sticks; we coordinate the pickup window, the labels, and the resort hand-off so you land and play.

What's a typical group size for a Dominican Republic golf trip?

Dominican Republic trips typically run 4 - 16 players. The format suits winter golf escape, top-tier Caribbean golf, partner trips with reef diving and beach. Smaller groups (under the listed minimum) are workable but lose tee-time flexibility; larger groups need a custom build and a longer lead time for lodging blocks. Tell us your roster size in the brief and we'll size the routing - and the sample itinerary - around it.

How early should I book a Dominican Republic golf trip?

Book Dominican Republic trips six to twelve months ahead for prime-season dates. Marquee rounds and on-property lodging fill earliest, especially over weekends in the November - April (December-March peak) window. Off-season and weekday trips can sometimes be confirmed inside 90 days. Send the brief as soon as the group's dates are firm; we hold tee times the same week the contract is signed.

Are caddies available at Dominican Republic?

Caddies are available at most Dominican Republic courses and required at a few. Pinseekers books the caddie program with the round - including forecaddies, pro-line caddies, and walking-only setups where the property requires it. We brief every caddie on the group's preferences before the round goes off, and tipping guidance is included in the trip packet so nobody is guessing on the first tee.

Does Pinseekers handle non-golfer activities at Dominican Republic?

Yes. Pinseekers coordinates non-golfer activities on every Dominican Republic trip - spa, dining, off-property tours, cultural experiences, fishing, and whatever else the group's spouses or non-golfing partners want to fit in. Tell us in the brief who's traveling and what they want to do, and we'll build the parallel schedule into the trip without making it feel like a separate booking.

Plan your Dominican Republic trip

Pinseekers Travel runs Dominican Republic trips end-to-end - tee times, lodging, transfers, dining, and the on-trip schedule. Send a brief and we'll come back with two routings within one business day.
