Updated May 2026 · By the Pinseekers Travel team

The short answer

Scottsdale, Arizona is the highest-volume bucket-list golf destination in the U.S. - 200+ courses inside an hour, headlined by TPC Scottsdale Stadium (the WM Phoenix Open), Troon North (Monument and Pinnacle), and We-Ko-Pa (Saguaro and Cholla). Pinseekers Travel runs 4-night, 4-round trips for groups of 8-20 from November through April, paired with Old Town hotels or 4-6 bedroom rental houses for buddies and bachelor builds.

On the Ground

Scottsdale is the bachelor and buddies city. The mistake most groups make is over-packing the schedule - five rounds in four days, every night on Old Town. We pace it: the marquee TPC round on Day 3 when guys are loose enough to enjoy 16, a walking round at We-Ko-Pa Saguaro to break up the cart-required desert tracks, and one off night for a group dinner that isn't a club. The trip lands better when we treat it like four days, not four nights.

TPC Scottsdale - Stadium Course

Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish (1986) · Desert-target with stadium amphitheater on 16 · 7,261 yds, par 71

Host of the WM Phoenix Open - the loudest, most-attended event on the PGA Tour. The 16th-hole island green is the most recognizable hole in tournament golf. Tee times are the hardest get in Scottsdale; book 60-90 days out.

Troon North - Monument Course

Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish (1990) · Pure desert-target through the Sonoran preserve · 7,070 yds, par 72

The original Scottsdale desert experience. Forced carries over washes, saguaro-lined fairways, and the namesake granite monument behind the third green. Pair with Pinnacle on consecutive mornings.

Troon North - Pinnacle Course

Tom Weiskopf (1996) · Desert-target sister course to Monument · 7,044 yds, par 72

More elevation change than Monument and a more dramatic finish. The two together at Troon North are the best desert-target pair in Arizona.

We-Ko-Pa - Saguaro Course

Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw (2006) · Walkable desert with no real estate on either side · 6,966 yds, par 71

Coore-Crenshaw minimalism in the desert - and the only true walking course in the metro. The 'no houses, no carts required' brief is rare in Scottsdale and worth the 30-minute drive.

We-Ko-Pa - Cholla Course

Scott Miller (2001) · Cart-required desert-target · 7,225 yds, par 72

Longer and more visually dramatic than Saguaro. The 17th green sits with the Four Peaks behind it - the picture every group takes.

Talking Stick - O'odham Course (North)

Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw (1997) · Open prairie/grassland, Coore-Crenshaw · 7,133 yds, par 70

An anti-desert design - flat, open, treeless grassland on Salt River Pima-Maricopa land. Most affordable serious round in the metro and walkable. Strong Day 1 warm-up or last-day closer.

Grayhawk Golf Club - Talon Course

David Graham & Gary Panks (1994) · Desert-target with Pinnacle Peak views · 7,135 yds, par 72

Hosts the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The most-played upscale public course in north Scottsdale and the easiest 'serious round' to book inside 30 days. Pair with Raptor for a 36-hole day.

Grayhawk Golf Club - Raptor Course

Tom Fazio (1995) · Desert-target, Fazio strategic · 7,135 yds, par 72

Tom Fazio's Scottsdale entry - more strategic than Talon, with bigger landing areas and more Fazio-style green complexes. The right second round of a Grayhawk-Talon morning.

The Boulders Resort - South Course

Jay Morrish (1984, restored 2017) · Desert-target around iconic 12-million-year-old granite boulders · 6,726 yds, par 72

The most photographed golf course in Arizona. The signature granite boulder formations frame nearly every hole. Resort-package pricing makes it one of the better value plays for groups staying on-property.

Quintero Golf Club

Rees Jones (2000) · Desert-mountain on a 12,000-acre nature preserve · 7,190 yds, par 72

45 minutes north of Old Town - the longest drive on this list and worth it. Routed across mountain ridges with no homes anywhere on the property. Walking is allowed and the elevation changes are dramatic.

Sample itinerary

A representative routing - every Pinseekers trip is tuned to the group's travel windows, handicaps, and tee-time preferences.

Day 1

Arrive PHX, settle in, easy round

Land at PHX by midday. Check into Old Town hotel block or rental house. Afternoon round at Talking Stick O'odham or Grayhawk Talon for an easy walking-friendly opener. Welcome dinner on Old Town's Stetson Drive - Coach House, Bottled Blonde, or Diego Pops for the casual open.

Day 2

Troon North 36 (or split Monument + Pinnacle)

Morning Monument, afternoon Pinnacle - or pair Monument with a half-day at the Phoenician spa for non-golfers. Group dinner at Mastro's City Hall or Sel for the upgrade night.

Day 3

TPC Scottsdale Stadium (the marquee)

The pre-booked Stadium round goes off mid-morning. Lunch at the TPC clubhouse, then optional afternoon at Top Golf or the Phoenician spa. Evening on Old Town - Maya, Riot House, or the El Hefe / Bevvy crawl depending on the group's energy.

Day 4

We-Ko-Pa walk + closing dinner

Morning walking round at We-Ko-Pa Saguaro - 30-minute drive but worth it. Lunch on the back patio with Four Peaks views. Closing group dinner at Steak 44 or Citizen Public House. Late flights home Day 5 morning.

Lodging & basecamp

Basecamp: Old Town Scottsdale (walkable hotels) or 4-6 bedroom rental house

Two builds work: (1) hotel block in Old Town - Hotel Adeline, Senna House, Hotel Valley Ho, or the Phoenician for the upgrade - so the group can walk to dinner and bars; (2) 4-6 bedroom rental house in Paradise Valley or North Scottsdale for groups of 8+ that want a private pool and shared common area. Bachelor and milestone-birthday groups almost always pick the rental house build. Old Town is the right call for couples-friendly trips and corporate retreats.

When to go

Prime season is November through April - daytime highs 65-80°F, low rain risk, and the best course conditioning of the year. October and May are shoulder months: pricing drops 20-30% but daytime highs push 90+°F by late May. Avoid June through September unless you can play sunrise rounds only - midday temperatures regularly clear 110°F and most courses move to summer rates with afternoon-only twilight.

Getting there & transfers

Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is the only airport - 25 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale, served by every major U.S. carrier with 1,200+ daily departures. No second-airport tradeoffs, no inter-island flights. Pinseekers arranges group transfers (van for 8-12, two vans for 13-20). Many groups also rent a passenger van or two SUVs from PHX for course-day flexibility - distances between Old Town and the courses run 20-45 minutes each way.

Tipping & budget tips

  • TPC Scottsdale Stadium green fees swing from ~$300 (summer twilight) to $750+ (peak February). Book 60-90 days ahead for prime-season weekend access.
  • Caddies are not standard at most Scottsdale resorts - carts are the format. The exception is TPC Stadium, where caddies are available and meaningfully change the round; book one round with caddies, the rest with carts.
  • Old Town hotel rates spike during the WM Phoenix Open week (early February), the Barrett-Jackson auction (mid-January), and Cactus League spring training (March). Avoid those windows or book 6+ months ahead.
  • Rental houses in Paradise Valley and North Scottsdale lock in 6+ months ahead for prime-season weekends. Pinseekers vets the property, handles the cleaning fee and damage deposit, and routes the booking through a partner platform with bachelor-friendly cancellation terms.
  • PHX is the cheapest major-airport hub in the West - flights from most of the U.S. are 30-40% cheaper than equivalent flights to LAS or SFO. The savings on airfare typically funds an upgraded round.

Common questions about Scottsdale golf trips

How much does a Scottsdale golf trip cost per person?

Pinseekers Travel Scottsdale trips run $1,500 - $3,500 per player. Final pricing depends on group size, season, lodging tier, the caddie program, and whether you add premium rounds or off-property activities. We publish standard, premium, and black-card tiers on this page; email events@pinseekerstravel.com with your dates and roster size and we'll come back with a custom quote within one business day.

What is the best time of year for a Scottsdale golf trip?

The prime window for Scottsdale is November - April. Conditioning, weather, and tee-time access all peak in that range. Shoulder months can drop pricing 20-30% with most days still playable. We don't book outside the prime window unless the group prefers off-season value over guaranteed weather - the "When to go" section above breaks down each month in detail.

How many days should a Scottsdale golf trip be?

Most Scottsdale groups travel for 4 nights / 3-5 rounds. Shorter than that and the marquee rounds feel rushed; longer and fatigue cuts into scoring on the closing days. We size every trip to the group's travel windows, handicaps, and how many courses they want to play - the sample itinerary on this page is one representative routing, not the only shape the trip can take.

What are the must-play courses at Scottsdale?

The marquee rounds we sequence on a Scottsdale trip are TPC Scottsdale - Stadium Course, Troon North - Monument Course, Troon North - Pinnacle Course, We-Ko-Pa - Saguaro Course. Each is profiled in "The courses we play" section above with designer, course type, and the strategic reason it earns a tee time on the schedule. Additional add-on rounds and replay options are available for groups that want to extend the trip or get a second crack at a favorite layout.

What's the closest airport to Scottsdale?

Most groups fly into PHX (Phoenix Sky Harbor) - 25 minutes to Old Town Scottsdale. Pinseekers arranges group transfers from the airport to the basecamp and between courses for groups of four or more, with larger groups split across multiple vans. Private aviation arrivals are coordinated separately when the group has access. The "Getting there & transfers" section above lists the alternates worth considering.

Can I ship my golf clubs to Scottsdale?

Yes. Pinseekers handles club shipping on every trip via Ship Sticks or Luggage Forward, with door-to-door pickup from your home or club and delivery to the resort bag room before arrival. Most groups ship one direction and fly back with their sticks; we coordinate the pickup window, the labels, and the resort hand-off so you land and play.

What's a typical group size for a Scottsdale golf trip?

Scottsdale trips typically run 8 - 20 players. The format suits buddies trips, bachelor parties, milestone birthdays, corporate retreats. Smaller groups (under the listed minimum) are workable but lose tee-time flexibility; larger groups need a custom build and a longer lead time for lodging blocks. Tell us your roster size in the brief and we'll size the routing - and the sample itinerary - around it.

How early should I book a Scottsdale golf trip?

Book Scottsdale trips six to twelve months ahead for prime-season dates. Marquee rounds and on-property lodging fill earliest, especially over weekends in the November - April window. Off-season and weekday trips can sometimes be confirmed inside 90 days. Send the brief as soon as the group's dates are firm; we hold tee times the same week the contract is signed.

Are caddies available at Scottsdale?

Caddies are available at most Scottsdale courses and required at a few. Pinseekers books the caddie program with the round - including forecaddies, pro-line caddies, and walking-only setups where the property requires it. We brief every caddie on the group's preferences before the round goes off, and tipping guidance is included in the trip packet so nobody is guessing on the first tee.

Does Pinseekers handle non-golfer activities at Scottsdale?

Yes. Pinseekers coordinates non-golfer activities on every Scottsdale trip - spa, dining, off-property tours, cultural experiences, fishing, and whatever else the group's spouses or non-golfing partners want to fit in. Tell us in the brief who's traveling and what they want to do, and we'll build the parallel schedule into the trip without making it feel like a separate booking.

Plan your Scottsdale trip

Pinseekers Travel runs Scottsdale trips end-to-end - tee times, lodging, transfers, dining, and the on-trip schedule. Send a brief and we'll come back with two routings within one business day.
